WHAT DO YOU WANT IN 2018?

INSTEAD OF SETTING GOALS, WHY NOT THINK DEEPLY ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT?

HAPPINESS IS . . .  

Do you know that your thoughts are powerful? In this 21st century we are dependent upon electronics like your iPhone, IPad, Computer, Apple Watch, or Electronic Games, just to name a few. You don’t need to do too much thinking, right?

The ball dropped in Times Square, confetti snowed down, and you shook hands and kissed whoever was close to you wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

After all the celebrations died down you talked about what goals you had set, and how you loved setting goals, imagining all kind of possibilities. Some of us even wrote down our goals, all with the best of intentions. Others bragged about what they intended to do. The talk was cheap, but now halfway through January, many of our ideas have waned, probably because we don’t know how to get started. Of course, we don’t, why would we? We have gotten used to not thinking too deeply, remember?

When we wished our friends Happy New Year, did we ask them what would make them happy? No, of course not, we are not that interested, they probably wouldn’t be able to tell you anyway . . . Why? We don’t think about our happiness, or what would make us happy. We don’t dare do that, maybe superficially, but probably not profoundly, our thoughts naturally fly in and out, life is busy. We are too busy or preoccupied to spend time on such a brief question.

 Attending a function a few years ago, I set about to ask random people to name three things that would make them happy. The response was Sex, Money, Power. Now the question was thrown at them, but what if they had time to think deeply?

 In this blog, I want you to think about the word “happy,” the dictionary definition could be: a feeling or showing pleasure, or having a sense of confidence, in or satisfaction with a person, place, or thing.

But what is it that’ll make you happy?

 Happy is a state of mind. Happy is the thoughts that you choose to have, someone else cannot make you happy, not your friends, significant others, children, your boss or your peers. It is a choice that you must make, now losing weight may add to your happiness, or getting that promotion, winning the lottery, or seeing your child excel at school or in sports. All those things add to your happiness, standing with then alone cannot be the source of your happiness. WHY?

 YOU ARE THE SOURCE!

 Try this exercise: Choose a comfortable place to sit quietly. Close your eyes, now think about something you wanted, and you got. Try to remember some of your feelings regarding this extraordinary thing, how did it involve your five senses of Sight, Sound, Touch, Smell, Taste? Did you see it, hear it, could you smell, taste or feel it?

 You were motivated to bring what you wanted into your life. It is the same with happiness. You must imagine what that is for you! Now instead of setting goals, take the time to use the most powerful organ in your body –  The Brain! Tear up the written goals because you are about to understand:

 THAT THE MAGIC OF IMAGINATION CAN BRING YOU WHAT YOU WANT

 YOUR CHILDHOOD WAS MEASURED OUT BY THE SIGHTS, THE SOUNDS AND THE SMELLS BEFORE  THE DARK HOUR OF REASON GREW

OUR IMAGINATION IS THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE MADE AVAILABLE TO MANKIND
